Alumni Update – 2/23
RJ McNichols ran a 8:57.9 3000m at the Cardinal Classic. Wow, what a great performance. All the hard work RJ has put in the last four years is paying off. The reason he is successful is because he is willing to put in the consistent miles that it takes to be a champion. As a result of this effort, we will get to see RJ run again at Conference – simply awesome! Ryan Perry ran a 4:48.4 mile on February 4th. He ran a 16:51.3 5k at an invite at Steven’s Point. Carlton Folster ran a 15:42 in that same race. Carlton had a frustrating indoor season and hopefully a little down time will revive him for the outdoor season. Cale Brown was also at this meet and ran a 23.19 200m. Marshall Stewart ran 50.9 to finish 9th in the 400m. Look for Danny Pawola and Jimmy Riddle in the Big Ten meet this coming weekend. I know that Jimmy is in the seeded race (5k?) and Danny is running the 3k and 5k in the unseeded race. Billy Klimczak ran a 9:15.8 3000m at a meet in Charleston. Jordan Lagomarcino ran a 2:01.8 800m in the same meet. Rob Sassa ran a 9:16 3000m at Kent State. This is a great performance for Rob and a new pr! Luke Verbus ran a 4:36.2 for a full mile in Golden, CO. David Wing is starting to run again after battling mononucleosis. Sam Wildeman vaulted 14’5” last weekend.
Steve Carron is now running for Union College in Kentucky. He ran a 1:22.53 600m on February 5th, which was a national qualifying “B” mark and a new indoor school record! At the Kent State tune up meet where Rob Sassa ran his pr, Steve placed eighth in the 200m in 22.49 and 16th in the 400m dash with a mark of 49.62, which was a “B” standard.
